Kia EV9 - Why it's Great For Child Car Seats! And For Fitting 3 Car Seats Across!

Had a chance to try out some configurations of our child car seat range in the new Kia EV9. Thanks to McElligotts of Tralee for facilitating this!

The Kia EV9 is an all-electric, three-row luxury SUV built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). What we want to know is how does it works for child car seats and that all elusive 3 car seats across solution! 

At first glance the 2nd row seats are nice and flat with no large bumps on the flat or vertical parts of the vehicle seats. 
The centre seat in the middle row is not a full size seat (therefore has no isofix points) but that doesn't hinder fitting in 3 car seats due to the range that we stock.

In this image there is an Axkid Minikid 4 Max, Axkid Movekid/Axkid Minikid 4 Pro (tethers not installed) and Axkid Up on the far side :

The Axkid Minikid 4 range are seat belt installed rear facing seats which allow flexible installation versus isofix installation and due to their shape they allow for an extended rear facing seat to be installed in the centre seat. The Axkid Up high back booster in this case is isofix installed (can be seat belt installed also).

The fantastic Axkid Up high back booster is also an option for the centre seat due to the design! In this image the Axkid Minikid 4 seats are on the door sides (tethers not installed) with Axkid Up high back booster seat belt installed in the centre.

As a 7 seater there are 2 seats in the 3rd row also (with isofix points).

According to this Kia EV9 owner manual when using child restraints in the 2nd row it is recommended that seat sliding should be adjusted to middle position. When a child restraint is installed in the 3rd row, the 2nd row seats should be adjusted to fully forward position or folded.

Based on this, it depends what type of seats are being installed in the 2nd row, whether it would be possible for a child restraint to fit on the 3rd row (with sufficient clearance). See the Axkid Up high back booster installed in the 3rd row:
